Midwifery
Midwifery is an essential component of any health system. Evidence shows that skilled, knowledgeable, and compassionate midwifery care significantly reduces maternal and newborn mortality and stillbirths. It keeps mothers and babies safe while promoting overall health and well-being. Consequently, midwifery positively impacts the broader health system and contributes to the economic sustainability of communities.
Under this program, CAWC has trained a number of women and young girls to provide support services to pregnant and lactating women. CAWC conducted training sessions that included reproductive education on fertility, nutrition, exercise, contraception, pregnancy health, breastfeeding, and quality infant care. At the end of the training, participants received a certificate of completion along with a first aid package to help them begin their work in their own communities.
